Read more"I am a bona fide TREE FANATIC and I trust Manuel and his crew at Southland Tree Specialists (not sure of the exact business name but Manuel is the specialist) and have used them for YEARS!! I live in an area of Long Beach known for its historic homes and trees, so most of these beautiful trees in my neighborhood are 50-80 years old. Manuel and his men know the inherent shape of each type of tree and exactly when and how to trim them so their natural shape is not ravaged like so many self-proclaimed tree trimmers are wont to do :(!! I made the HORRIBLE mistake of using someone else before I found Manuel at Southland, and this "arborist" hacked my gorgeous blossoming pear tree so aggressively to the point where it nearly ruined the gorgeous natural shape of this beautiful tree. I have included a photo of this tree now, after Manuel and his men have cared for it for the past 10 years. He is reasonable and in fact, he cares so much about each individual tree MORE than his profit, that he will actually turn away business to inform you that this or that tree should not be trimmed yet, as he just did for me. I had three other trees that I want to trim, a large apricot, a nectarine, and a blossoming plum tree, and he told me that if I trim them now, in early February, it will not be beneficial since the evenings are still too cold for the areas that would be freshly cut. He said they would fare better if he could trim them in April. This is an honest man!! He knows how to trim my trees so they are still gorgeous after they are trimmed; he cares more for the life of the tree than some of these hackers who just want to make it easy on themselves by hacking away at the large primary branches so they don't have to do as much work, but then the poor trees look like denuded palm trees, regardless of their species, with just a nude long trunk and barely any primary or secondary branches :(!! Manuel knows how to do what he calls a "perimeter cut and lacing." Look at my gorgeous tree he trimmed several months ago and how healthy it is :)!! Call Manuel!! He is honest and loves trees !!"
